Imphal, January 05 2014:
In appreciation of positive response by the general public CD cassette release function of 'Lai Leipakta Laiphao', a digital film based on the Inner Line Permit system movement, was held today at the Keishampat office of IPSA.
Speaking at the occasion, producer RK Jiten said various social issues afflicting the Manipuri society, particularly the ongoing campaign for introducing ILP in the State motivated him to produce Lai Leipakta Laiphao, technically a commercial film but with a social message.
Conveying that keen desire to contribute his mite in the movement initiated by the civil society organisations was the driving force for producing the movie, he said after the latest venture which was preceded by Western Sankritan his next production would be entitled 'Chow-Chow Mo-mo Na Haobara, Singju Borana Haobara', a satirical movie about the changing social environment.
Jiten also informed that tips from FREINDS president Sapamcha Jadumani was not only instrumental but also provided invaluable information for 'Lai Leipakta Laiphao'.
L Prakash is the director of the film released on January 21, 2013 at BOAT.
Commenting on the film and ILP campaign, Sapamcha Jadumani regretted that even security force personnel had been acting indifferently to the ongoing campaign for introducing ILP in Manipur.
Clarifying that campaign for ILP should not be equated with rusticating non-locals from Manipur but needs to be acknowledged as urging the Government for mandatory legislation to streamline entry of outsiders to protect the indigenous people, he suggested that security forces too extend cooperation instead of projecting the campaign in a wrong way.
Expressing serious concern that decline in the population growth of the indigenous people compared to increasing influx of non-locals would eventually result in the indigenous people reduced to a minority, Jadumani also called upon film-makers for more focus on films with social message and issued-based.
Among others, Kanglamei president Y Leirik Leima, IPSA advisor H Ibotombi Khuman and chief advisor of Chanura Lamchinglen Kangleipak A Langdon Leima also attended the simple function.
