Fund deficit derailing development works in State: Biswajit

The State is witnessing derailment in development works on account of fund deficit of Rs 851 crore and excess recruitment of around 10,000 Government employees in the past notwithstanding the financial crunch, said Works, IPR, Commerce & Industries and RD&PR Minister Th Biswajit.
He said this while addressing the golden jubilee celebration of Thongju Chigonglei Makhong Development Club (TCMDC) held today at the club premises at Thongju Part II .
Speaking as chief guest, Biswajit noted the pivotal role of youth clubs in building a society, saying TCMDC has been taking up various activities for welfare and development of the locality since its inception.
He maintained that the new Government under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren is committed to bringing all round development in the hills and valley.
The Minister assured that he will sponsor those poor but bright students in Thongju AC, who strive to become doctor and engineer.
After becoming doctors and engineers, an agreement will be inked with them to sponsor students each so that they could become like them in future, he said.
Taking part in the function, CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam said that he has worked as an active club members for around 40 years prior to becoming an MLA.
He said that the activities helped him in serving the people as a responsible Minister.
He assured that PDS items for the beneficiaries are not deprived by vested individuals.
He said that support from the people is necessary as many challenges may crop up in meeting the assurance.
The Minister exhorted the youth clubs to take active participation in bringing significant changes in the society and in Nation building.
Today's celebration function was also attended by Keirao AC MLA Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei; Bashikhong Zilla Parishad Member Chirom Romio; Pradhan, Thongju Part II Gram Panchayat, Nameirakpam Kanon Chanu; founder principal of Imphal Public School, Ashem Kennedy and TCMDC president Sanasam Gopal as guest of honour and presidium members respectively.
Blessing ceremony for students who are going to appear in Class X and XII examinations, presentation of gifts to founders, former workers of the club and elderly persons of the locality, felicitation of Bijoy Laishram, staff reporter of Hueiyen Lanpao, who was awarded Promising Journalist Award by Women Action for Development (WAD) and unfurling of the new of the club by Biswajit and Karam Shyam were the main highlights of the celebration function.
