Art & Culture Minister L Jayantakumar Singh has said that research work on Mahatma Gandhi will be endless.
Speaking at the valedictory function of the 15 Days Production Oriented Theatre Workshop based on the life, philosophy and ideologies of Gandhiji held at Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound, Imphal, Jayantakumar said that what Gandhi did for humanity and downtrodden of the world will remain immortal.
Speaking as chief guest, the Minister asserted that despite the shortage of fund of the State Government, the Art & Culture Department has been putting its best to promote the rich culture of the State.

"The resources of talented artistes in the State are well recognized by the rest of the country.
The state has its own cultural policy.
We have a Cultural University also.
But the financial constraints of the State and poor budget have really disheartened the fraternities in this field.
Still, the Government is committed to promoting the State art & culture to new heights," he said.
The Minister, further, said that official letter has been sent to the Union Finance Ministry for special fund for the State.
Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh has also expressed to allocate extra fund from Planning Department to meet the shortage of fund for the Art & Culture Department, he said and informed that the State Government is planning to construct a Theatre Complex at a suitable place in the interest of the artistes and theatre personalities.
He sought full cooperation of the people on the various Government initiatives.
The Minister distributed certificates to the trainees of the workshop.
A play on Gandhiji, directed by renowned theatre Director Wareppa Naba was also presented as a part of the closing function.
The function was also attended by Art & Culture Commissioner M Lakshmikumar Singh as president.
Director and Deputy Director of Art & Culture, theatre personalities and trainees of the workshop and their guardians also attended the function.
