National Voluntary Blood Donation Day observed

As observed across the country, National Voluntary Blood Donation Day was also observed in the State by organising blood donation camps at different places.
As a part of the observation, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Imphal East district branch organised a voluntary blood donation camp cum awareness programme at the Blood Bank of JNIMS today.
In today's blood donation camp, around 35 volunteers including volunteers of Biramangol College, Sawombung Youth Red Cross donated blood.
The chairman of IRCS, Imphal East district branch, Narendra Ningomba explained about the importance of blood donation to the volunteers and DC, Imphal West presented certificates to the blood donors.
Secretary of IRCS Manipur, Dr RK Nimai Singh, retired IAS also attended the programme and appealed all to donate blood without any hesitation and to help in overcoming the shortage of blood at times of need.
On the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, a voluntary blood donation camp was held under the theme 'Give Blood and keep the World Beating' at the Blood Bank Churachandpur today.
The camp was jointly organised by Life Savers Manipur, Indian Red Cross Society of Imphal West district, Bishnupur district, Churachandpur district branches, State Blood Transfusion Council Manipur, State Blood Cell, National Health Mission Manipur and District Hospital Blood Bank Churachandpur and many young donors donated blood during the camp, said a press release issued by Life Savers Manipur.
Dr Bijayenta Ksh, Blood Bank Officer, District Hospital Churachandpur, K Padmakumar Sharma, Managing Director, Life Savers Manipur, Dr Bangkim, secretary IRCS, Imphal West district branch, E Premjit Singh, joint secretary IRCS, Bishnupur district branch, St Lalson, secretary IRCS, Churachandpur district branch, P Dhananjoy Singh, Board of Trustee Member, LISAM and Kh Premjit Singh, 69 times voluntary blood donor also attended the camp.
Dr Bijayenta Ksh said that the blood donation camp has been organised to help in meeting the requirements of blood at the blood banks especially during this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, added the press release.
Life Savers Manipur also expressed gratitude to all the blood donors.
