Sit-ins continue across State capital

Meira paibis continue staging sit-ins at different parts of the State capital today on the demands for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State, conversion of the three Bills passed by the State Legislative Assembly last year into Acts and unconditional release of arrested members of Kangleipak Students' Association.
Womenfolk of Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai staged a sit-in supporting the ongoing movement for implementation of ILP in Manipur spearheaded by the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS).
Meanwhile, meira paibis of Keishampat Kangabam Leikai staged a demonstration by blocking the Waheng Leikai road.
Members of Lukram Leirak Women's Welfare Association alongwith Young Development Organisation of Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak also staged a sit-in-protest demanding immediate release of arrested students and implementation of ILP in Manipur.
On the other hand, womenfolk of Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai Nambul Mapal also staged a sit-in-protest supporting the demand for conversion of the Bills passed by the State Legislative Assembly last year into Acts.
Sayang Road Konthoujam Leikai meira paibi and local club, Council for Youth Welfare staged a sit-in-protest at Sayang Road.
Similar protests were also staged by meira paibis at different parts of the capital like Singjamei Keithel, Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Kakwa Lamdaibung, Chingmeirong, Sangakpham, Thangmeiband Lilasing Khongnangkhong and Heirangoithong.
Supporting the demand for implementation of ILP in Manipur and demanding the enactment of the Bills passed by Manipur Legislative Assembly last year, a large number of protesters blocked National Highway 39 at Khabam Lamkhai and Luwangshangbam area crippling vehicular movements.
Womenfolk also blocked the road at Achanbigei Mayai Leikai and Khoyathong.
At Langjing Achouba, Apunba Meira Paibi Lup staged demonstration by blocking half the road at Langjing Achouba Chingmang area.
The protesters while urging the Government to immediately implement ILPS in the State warned the 60 MLAs to understand the sentiments of the people.
Large number of meira paibis also blocked the road completely at Patsoi �Part I and Part III.
Protesters also denounced the silence of MP Dr T Meinya over the three Bills passed by the State Legislative Assembly.
Members of Lamlongei Yaipha Thouda Nupi Lup staged a sit-in-protest at Mantripukhri bazar demanding immediate implementation of Inner Line Permit System and conversion of the three Bills into Acts.
Showing solidarity to the ongoing pro-ILPS agitation, spearheaded by JCILPS,, members of Phoijing Awang Apunba Nupi Lup today staged a sit-in protest at Phoijing Bazar and shouted slogans demanding conversion of the three Bills into Acts.
