Imphal, February 01 2017:
Former MPCC secretary Jyotin Waikhom has joined BJP along with IMC councillor Hijam Nutanchandra, IMC ex -chairperson Aribam Jiban-lata and IMC Ward Develop- ment Committee Members H Manglem and Hounirung Pamei.
Speaking at a felicitation held at BJP State Unit office at Nityaipat Chuthek today, Jyotin Waikhom said, "There can be no integrity in Manipur without the participation of Meitei, Naga, Kuki, Muslim and other communities.
The people of the State have lost faith in the Congress party because of their irresponsibility" .
"The people have a huge role to play if they want to completely uproot the Congress party from Manipur and bring a BJP-led Government", he added.
Speaking at the function, BJP State Unit president Ksh Bhabananda pointed out that it will be of no use for the Congress Party to keep slamming other political parties when they, themselves, failed to produce anything good in their 15 years rule.
Assuring that the BJP will not betray people's trust, he said, "The Congress has been in power ever since Manipur obtained Statehood.
And there have been economic blockades every year without fail during their rule which conti- nue even to this day.
This shows the Congress party's indifference to the plight of people of the State" .
Bhabananda said, "It is a victory for the BJP that more politicians are joining the party aside from the six Congress MLAs who joined the party earlier" .
According to BJP State Unit general secretary MLA Thongam Biswajit, the entry of Jyotin Waikhom who contested the previous Assembly elections on Cong- ress tickets in Thangmei- band A/C into BJP's fold is a sign that people have immense faith in the party.
He said that Jyotin Wai-khom would most possibly be selected as the BJP candidate for Thangmeiband A/C adding that the party would do everything in its power to help him win in the upcoming 11th State Assembly election.
"Only the BJP can defeat Congress", he claimed and added that the Congress party has become nervous as it senses defeat in the coming election.
Biswajit said that the people can easily see through the Congress' charade of using NSCN (IM) as a tool to gather votes.
"It will be useless even if the Congress Party tries to win votes with the NSCN (IM) riding on its back", he said.
Biswajit further stated that the Congress party should stop using the Framework Agreement as an excuse to tarnish the BJP's image.
Instead, Congress should give the people a chance to choose the party they prefer.
He accused the Congress party of creating rifts between different communities for politcal gain.
He further accused the Congress of being inefficient and sloppy when it came to development works and projects.
"The Congress Government failed to see the honest intentions of the Union Ministers who came here in order to improve the condition of the State", he claimed.
Biswajit said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been trying to bring changes and improvement to Jammu and Kashmir and the North East in order to enable the two regions compete with other States of the country and bring equality throughout the country.
No other party can bring change in Manipur except BJP" .
Slamming the Congress party, BJP Manipur State Unit spokesperson N Biren alleged that the Congress party, BRO and NSCN (IM) were in cahoots with each other and it was the reason why the Congress party was not able to give any reply to the nexus they have with BRO and NSCN(IM) .
"Even though the State Government claims that the seven new districts were created for administrative conveniences, there are still no offices, no manpower and budgetary allocation for the new districts", he said pointing out that the people can easily see through the cheap tricks of the Government.
"The people have not forgotten the high handedness of the Congress Government during the ILP issue", he added.
He claimed that the BJP will win 18 to 20 in the valley and 15 in the hills in the coming election and urged the people of Thangmeiband A/C to support BJP in the coming election.
