PM Modi bats for massive enrolment

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the party's Manipur unit leaders and office bearers to strengthen the party by ensuring massive enrolment of voters through the party's toll free telephone number.
Capitalising on his maiden visit to Manipur since assuming the office of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi held a brief meeting with BJP Manipur Pradesh leaders and office bearers at their Nityaipat Chuthek office this evening.
He called upon the State leaders and office bearers to work relentlessly and collectively in order build up a strong base throughout the North East region including Manipur.
The ongoing campaign for enrolment of new members in the party through sms service should be extended to all corners of the State without any distinction among different communities.
On arrival at the party's office from the Sangai festival venue, Narendra Modi was accorded a warm reception by BJP State unit president Th Chaoba and other leaders by presenting different gifts/souvenirs.
Narendra Modi stated that maximum efforts are being invested to introduce Imphal- Mandalay bus service in line with India's Look East Policy.
A memorandum jointly signed by BJP State unit general secretary (administration) M Ashinikumar and general secretary (organisation) S Premananda was submitted to the Prime Minister.
Repealing AFSPA from Manipur, holding the first session of the proposed sports university by next year, greater investment in health sector and upgradation of RIMS to the status of AIIMS were some of the demands/points highlighted through the memorandum.
It further appealed for augmentation of Manipur University infrastructure and check all sorts of graft practices in human resources development sector.
The demographic imbalance caused by incessant influx of unlawful immigrants and the need for socio-economic alleviation of minority Manipuri Muslims were some others raised through the memorandum.
