Ceasework strike called off

Imphal, January 30 2019:
Following an understanding between the State Government and employees' associations on the ground that 7 percent (of the demanded 17 percent due DR/DA of the employees) will be paid after calculation from January 1 this year, the indefinite ceasework strike by Manipur Secretariat Services Association (MSSA) has been called off from today.
According to a reliable source, representatives of MSSA, Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) and Manipur State Pensioners Union (MSPU) held a meeting for the third time with the State Government at the Chief Secretary's office at 2 pm today and during the meeting, it was agreed that the State Government will table the matter regarding payment of 7 percent DR/DA at the Cabinet and an MoU was also signed as well.
The source continued that the MoU was signed by Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, MSSA president Ramrei Shinglai, MGSF vice president L Sarat Singh, secretary Purujit Lairikyengbam and MPSU president H Yaima Singh.
With the signing of the MoU between the State Government and the employees' associations, MSSA publicity secretary issued a notice immediately calling off the indefinite ceasework strike which began from January 23 .
The notice also urged the employees to work diligently to make up for lost time as a result of the strike.
