Lamka, May 27 2015 :
With barely a few days left for campaigning for the upcoming ADC polls, the INC candidate for 21-Sangaikot DCC today pleaded the Government to ensure his security so that he can move freely claiming that he has been receiving threats.
Tongkhokai Baite said that his election committee chairman was assaulted by the volunteers of an opponent at T Laloiphai village at around 9pm last night.
The man, whom Baite refused to identify due to security reasons, is now undergoing treatment in a hospital due to the injuries he suffered in the attack, added the INC candidate, who is the sitting ADC member of the constituency.
He also claimed to have already highlighted the matter to the Deputy Chief Minister, the DGP and State Election Commissioner.
Narrating several instances of harassments and unruly conducts he and his supporters have been facing from the people he identified as the supporters of Independent candidate Pumtulthang, Tongkhokai said his posters and banners had been repeatedly torn and vandalized while some of his workers were told to renounce him or face capital punishment.
