FREINDS lines up stir on implementation of ILP

Imphal, June 22 2012:
A meeting of Manipur civil society organisations today convened by Federation of Regional Indigenous Societies (FREINDS) has lined up series of agitation to demand the adoption of a resolution for the implementation of ILP system by the State Assembly during the coming session.
According to a statement issued to the press today, the meeting resolved to start a public mobilisation campaign from June 23 using loud speaker.
It also resolved to stage sit-in protest at various places in the State on June 26 and to hold a mass sit-in at Keishampat Lairembi Lampak on June 27 .
In case the House fails to take any decision regarding the demand, K Hirahan Sharma would launch fast unto-death from July 6 .
If the House fails to pass any resolution till July 10, the meeting further resolved to impose bandh along the National Highways from July 11 till the end of the session.
It also decided to put restriction on the entry of non-locals if the Manipur Assembly did not pass any resolution to the demand while also resolving to impose three days total bandh right after the end of the session.
Significantly, the meet also resolved to undertake positive campaign for four-day praising the Manipur Government and the present Ministry.
The meeting was held at Indian AIDS Consortium, Palce Compound and presided by RV Mingthing Tangkhul.
