Imphal, April 22 2021:
Defying the Government order which directed closure of Ima Keithel for 10 days, some vendors continued business activities at Keithel no 1 (Ima Leimarel Sidabi shed) and Temporary Market, today.
On spot verification, The Sangai Express witnessed a certain number of vendors vending fruits, vegetables, fishes etc at the two market sheds.
Though the City police, using a loudspeaker, instructed the vendors to shun activities, the vendors went on with their businesses.
However, there were no signs of business running at Khwairamband Phouoibi Ima Keithel and Emoinu Ima Keithel and shops/outlets at Paona and Thangal Keithel were opened as per the direction of the Government.
It may be mentioned here that the Government has on Wednesday (April 21) directed shops in the alleys of Thangal and Paona Keithels to open on a rotational basis.
The State police, on the other hand, dispersed people vending vegetables and second-hand outfits at Dingko road as a measure to contain Covid spread, but Lamlong Keithel and Kongba Keithel were found closed owing to the 48 hours general strike imposed by Panchayat functionaries.
