AMADA celebrates 10th Foundation Day

All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) celebrated its 10th Foundation Day under the theme 'Mayai Kaba Chinzakna Cheitheng Fanglabasingda Katthoklaba Ee' at the Seminar Hall of IHBT Department, RIMS today.
The function was graced by Dr Ch Arunkumar, Director of RIMS as chief guest; M Padamani Leima, president of AMADA as president; Dr M Amuba, Medical Superintendent of RIMS; Dr W Gopimohan, Medical Superintendent of JNIMS and Dr A Meina, Head of IHBT Department as guests of honor.
Delivering the key note address on the occasion, Ph Phoni Meitei, secretary general of AMADA asserted that the association was established with the sole aim of rooting out intoxicant drugs from the society.
The Association since its inception has been conducting anti-drug drive in different places during which many kinds of drug were seized along with pulling up of abusers, he added.
He maintained that altogether 9211 people including drug peddlers and abusers have been pulled up by the Association along with seizure of drugs worth Rs 52, 12, 31, 554 in the past ten years.
Dr Arunkumar conceded that the rate of using drugs in wrong way in the State has been reduced due to efforts put in by anti-drug organizations like the AMADA.
In connection with the foundation day celebration, a blood donation camp was organized.
