Imphal, November 20 2014:
The student wing of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has urged the State Government to take immediate action against the police personnel involved in the raid at Democratic Students Alliance Manipur (DESAM) office yesterday.
The students' wing of the JCILPS has also warned to disrupt the upcoming Sangai Festival if the Government does not act against the personnel and reward those involved with befitting punishments within 24 hours.
Interacting with media persons today, convener of JCILPS students' wing, M Angamba informed that the committee is set to take up many forms of stringent agitations in case the Government fail to take action against the police personnel involved in the raid at DESAM office yesterday.
The protests would greatly affect the Sangai Festival which is set to begin tomorrow, cautioned Angamba.
It would be a great disgrace for the Government if the festival is not observed in the way it is planned since many foreign delegates will also participate in it, added Angamba.
Condemning the incident, the students' wing also burnt effigies of Chief Minister, O Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam and the State DGP, Shahid Ahmad at Thangmeiband area today.
