Imphal, August 19 2011:
Unhappy over the conduct of its officer, who not only remained absent from duty most of the time but also come to attend office drunk, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has closed down the office room of ZEO, Wangoi Zone-I from today.
The decision to close down the office was taken after an inspection of the office by a joint team of DESAM head office and DESAM Imphal West District Council during which the ZEO was found absent from his official duty.
Talking to mediapersons in this connection, assistant general secretary of DESAM K Thoithoi asserted that ZEO Wangoi Zone-I N Biramangol is not a qualified person to hold the post and the Government or its related authority should appoint a new ZEO.
Until then, the office would remain close.
Biramangol has been very irregular in his official duty and come to attend office drunk, Thoithoi alleged.
Stating that inspection of the ZEO office was conducted on receipt of various complaints from the public against the officer, Thoithoi informed that true to the public complaint, ZEO Biramangol was found absence from his duty.
Such negligence attitude of the ZEO has resulted in the present miserable condition of the schools in Wangoi area.
This has also negated the efforts being made by DESAM for promotion of quality education in the State, Thoithoi said.
