Imphal, February 19 2020:
Expressing shock at the leakage of the question paper for the Class XI examination which is conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (COHSEM), Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and the Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) have demanded the State Government and the authorities concerned to form an enquiry committee immediately and punish those responsible at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at DESAM head office at Kwakeithel today, its vice president Sheetal Oinam said that parents and guardians of the students appearing the class XI examination approached DESAM and AIMS with proofs that the question paper for the exam had leaked in advance on social media sites.

The associations then took the alleged questions to COHSEM for verification and it was found that the questions were indeed genuine, he explained, adding that the leaked questions consisted of MIL, Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology papers.
Casting suspicion that the questions were most probably leaked by someone who is a teacher, Sheetal said that DESAM and AIMS are deeply pained by this unethical act.
He continued that as per COHSEM's clarification, the examinations for both class X and XI fall on the same day which poses inconveniences for the Exam O/Cs and to mitigate this problem, the Headmasters of the schools were tasked with the responsibility of safekeeping the class XI examination questions much earlier before the exam commenced.
It is unfortunate that the class XI examination question papers for MIL (Feb 21), Physics (Feb 27), Chemistry (March 3), Maths (March 7) and Biology (March 21) have all been leaked, he lamented.
The people responsible for leaking the question papers on social media, thus making a mockery of the examination, should be strictly dealt with, he demanded, urging the Government and the authorities concerned to form an enquiry committee at the earliest to investigate the matter.
Just because the class XI examination is a promotion exam does not mean it can be taken lightly.
The authorities should do the needful to save the students from being guided along the wrong path, he demanded.
On the other hand, Sheetal reminded that COHSEM organised a training programme for the teachers who are supposed to check the examination papers and notice was sent out for participation of 604 Government teachers and 226 private teachers during the said training.
However, only 356 Government teachers turned up, he explained, demanding the Government to take up necessary action against the teachers concerned as well.
