Police ready to face blockade threat

Imphal, June 17 2017:
Following reports in some local papers that the All Manipur Viva-Voce Completed Candidates of Police Constables (Male 2013 Refresh 2016 Batch) are planning to call an economic blockade in the State from midnight of June 18, the State Police Department has made elaborate security arrangements for maintaining law and order during the economic blockade to ensure that vehicular movement and normal life are not disrupted in any way.
In a statement, DGP LM Khaute said that ' such economic blockade/bandh has been declared illegal by the Supreme Court of India and the State Govt has often made it clear that bandh/blockades will be dealt with a firm hand' .
"The bandh organisers and supporters are warned not to indulge in any form of violence," it said.
Further, the Police Dept has also made elaborate security arrangements for maintenance of law and order and normalcy during the proposed UNC total shutdown from 6 am to 6 pm of June 18, the statement added.
