'Keithelmanbi hit and run case'; TSA-GHQ serves ultimatum

In connection with a hit and run case that took place along the National Highway-2 near Keithelmanbi Military Colony last night, the Thadou Students' Association-GHQ has served an ultimatum to the authority concerned and the State Government to book the culprits on or before December 16.The student body also threatened to impose bandh along the National Highway-2 if the culprit (s) are not book within the stipulated time.
Yesterday at around 9 pm, a car heading towards Imphal knocked down one man identified as Manggoulun Dimngel (23), s/o Paongam Dimngel of Keithelmanbi Military Colony in between Keithelmanbi and Kalapahar and ran away from the spot.
The man died at the spot.
His body was taken to District Hospital Kangpokpi by the volunteers of Keithelmanbi Youth Association, TSA and other villagers.
They also lodged an FIR at Kangpokpi Police Station in connection with the case.
Later, the Kangpokpi Police deposited the dead body at RIMS Morgue for post mortem.
Condemning the incident, TSA-GHQ said that since the culprits hadn't informed about the incident to any Police Station, TSA-GHQ considered the incident as hit and run case and will fight to ensure justice to the victim's family.
Further urging authority concerned to book the culprit (s) within December 16, it said the body will not be claimed if the demand is not met within the stipulated time and will impose bandh along the National Highway-2 from December 17.Meanwhile, Keithelmanbi Youth Association (KYA) also condemned the incident in the strongest term and appealed the culprits to approach the victim's family at the earliest on humanitarian ground.
It also said that KYA will support and endorse all initiative taken up by TSA-GHQ to deliver justice to the victim's family.
Mentioned may be made that, on a similar day a car bearing regd No.MN06L-8848 heading towards Dimapur side fell into a gorge near S Golai in between Kangpokpi DHQs and Changoubung village.
The driver died on the spot and two other occupants sustained critical injuries.
