Biswajit inaugurates Kasom Khullen power sub-station

Power Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh inaugurated a 33/11KV power sub-station at Kasom Khullen in Kamjong district today.
Addressing the formal inaugural function, Biswajit said that inauguration of the sub-station was in line with the present Government's aim to provide quality power supply to all households.
The power sub-station, he said, will now provide quality and uninterrupted power supply in the surrounding areas and added that the sub-station is a Christmas gift for the people.
Stating that the present Government under Chief Minister N Biren Singh is development based, he said that 40 sub-stations will be built at different places and 17 sub-stations have been already inaugurated and handed over to the people.
10 more will be inaugurated before Christmas and 6 more will be established soon after, he added.
The Minister said that the power sector has improved rapidly in the State and continued that Manipur State Power Company Ltd (MSPCL) and Manipur State Power Distribution Company Ltd (MSPDCL) are ready to ensure there is no shortage of power in the State and meet any demand for power supply including for setting up of industries.
He said that conforming to the target of Saubhagya Scheme, which is to provide power connection to all households in the country by December 2018, the State will be able to declare that power connection has been provided to 1.04 lakh households in the State by next week.
Adding that households are identified based on the Socio Economic Caste Census, 2011 data, the Minister further said that the two companies will provide power to all households by 2018 end.
He further lauded the two companies, Manipur State Power Company Limited and Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited and their Managing Directors, for their tireless efforts to improve the power sector in the State.
The Minister said that improvement of the left out 1.5 Km long road portion from Kasom village to the local police station can be included in next year's work programme if there is no demand for land compensation from the locals.
Biswajit also assured to discuss the issue of propel functioning of a bank in the area with the authorities concerned.
He also assured to include the SDO Kasom to Namli road, which is around 35-40 km in the work programme of Central Road Fund for the next financial year.
MSPCL, MD, N Sarat Singh appealed to consumers to pay their electricity bills and said mat since the erstwhile Electricity Department was unbundled into two State owned companies with effect from February 1, 2014, the companies are receiving only limited grant in-aid from the Government and are largely dependent on the consumer bills.
The inaugural function was also attended by Phungyar A/ C MLA K Leishiyo and Chingai A/C MLA Khasim Vashum and MSPDCL MD L Priyokumar Singh, DC Kamjong Zuringla Kengoo, ADC Members, among others.
Other highlights of the day included cultural dance and music performances.
Meanwhile, as part of the inaugural function, Biswajit also handed over 1000 LED bulbs to the village to be distributed to the poorer households and further urged the village authority to identify the poor households.
The sub-station was constructed at the cost of Rs 10.42 crore from the State fund.
It includes stringing of 41 km long 33 KV Single Circuit line from Thoubal 33 KV sub-station on Steel Tubular Poles.
