Speaking at the programme, M Naokhamba said that to culture and language are the identity of a community which should be upheld with pride.
Burning of Puyas was a very unfortunate incident.
Following the destruction of Puyas en masse, the indigenous communities of the land seemed to have forgotten their common genealogy and this ultimately led to misunderstanding and distrust among the different communities of Manipur.
Had the Puyas been not destructed, the common genealogy would be very much alive even today and there would have been complete unity among the communities, Naokhamba said.
