Imphal, April 11 2012:
Refuting the claim of the police, the proscribed RPF has stated that RK ongbi Randhoni (57) wife of RK Ibomcha of Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai is not in any way connected with the PLA.
The claim of the police that RK Randhoni was involved in distributing money to different women organisations for the upcoming Martyrs' Day of the outfit on April 13 is baseless and without any foundation, said RPF in a statement.
Stating that the police cooked up the story to harass and intimidate a woman, which has been their calling for long, the outfit maintained that it is not their policy to use elderly women nearly touching 60 to do their bidding.
The outfit also asserted that it has no connection whatsoever with T Rajeshwari wife of T Thoiba of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai and presently staying at Khabam Lamkhai, who was picked up by the police on the charge of collecting money for organising the Martyrs' Day of the outfit on April 13.There is also no one by the name of Sgt Teshu in the PLA.
It is downright ridiculous to even think that Rajeshwari would try to collect money in the name of the PLA amid the tight security, said the outfit and added that this is nothing but a ploy to tarnish the image of the PLA by the police.
It is the police commandos and the VDF personnel who are extorting from the public, claimed the outfit further.
The outfit further said that Sgt Major Arnold alias Bekon of Manipuri Basti, Guwahati, who was reportedly arrested by a team of the NIA from a call centre at Siliguri on April 9 is no longer affiliated to the outfit.
He was dismissed from the outfit on November 1, 2011 .
