Imphal, February 11 2019:
Questioning why Chief Minister N Biren Singh is still clinging to the BJP even when the entire North East region and Manipur have become fed up of the party, former MLA RK Anand has urged the CM to instead act as a true Manipuri and stand for the welfare of the people.
He made the statement during a protest rally and demonstration which was organised at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai under the aegis of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Block Congress Committee today.
The former Congress MLA conveyed that no one can suppress the voice of the people and assured that the Congress party will act as per the wishes of the people.
He then urged the CM not to cling to the BJP and instead urged him to act like a leader of people.
Claiming that the Citizenship Amendment Bill issue has created a friction between the parties involved in forming the NDA Government, RK Anand appealed to all the Congress MLAs and MPs to bravely stand against the CAB in support of the people and to collaborate with the CSOs, students bodies and the womenfolk in the fight against the Bill.
The Bill is un-Constitutional and violates the federal structure.
This Bill is a challenge to the secular aspect of the country and is biased towards the Hindu population, he alleged.
Strongly condemning the police action against the protesting women vendors of Ima Keithel, RK Anand claimed that the current situation has reached such a state that the people are even demanding to be separated from India.
Such a situation has been caused by the Centre, he alleged.
India can be saved only when BJP is eradicated from the face of the country.
It is time for the people of Manipur to boycott BJP, RK Anand added.
He continued that all the assurances made by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, are useless and completely bogus as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always been shouting that the CAB will be passed in the Rajya Sabha.
