Steps to set up Staff Selection Commission hailed

Imphal, August 07 2022: The Manipur Government Services Federation (MSGF), the Manipur Secretariat Services Association (MSSA) and Manipur State Pensioners' Union (MSPU) have hailed all the Members of the State Assembly for passing a Government Bill to set up a Manipur Staff Selection Commission.

Speaking to media persons at Singjamei today, senior vice president of MSGF L Sarat stated that the Manipur Staff Selection Commission Bill 2022 was a historic Bill and hailed the 'boldness' of Government in passing it as it will leave no space for corruption to take place.

He also said that the three organisations have been urging the Government to establish the Manipur Staff Selection Commission.

Continuing that the wages of employees must be revised every five years under Minimum Wages Act 1948, L Sarat stated that the wages of employees hasn't been revised since 2016.Timely revision of wages will also benefit those who work in the unorganised sector, he explained and urged the Government to carry out the revision process as soon as possible.

Claiming that there are many retired Government employees who don't receive retirement benefits and pension facility, he appealed to all retired employees who don't get retirement benefit to submit their details to the office of MSPU and consult with the office bearers of the union.

He further appealed to all concerned to not listen to those who try to take a portion of pension benefit from them or suggest any unethical means.

Saying that the Government is yet to release around Rs 740 crore to give retirement benefit and pension to the retired employees, Sarat asked the Government to revoke New Pension Scheme as there is certain controversy about it.

Continuing that the financial health and management of MSPCL and MSPDCL is in a bad shape, he opined that there would be no development unless the State provides uninterrupted power supply to the people.

He then urged the Government to streamline the MSPCL and MSPDCL and release the salary of employees on time.
