Birth centenary of Ustad Bismillah Khan observed

The birth centenary of Ustad Bismillah Khan was observed by Sargam Peforming cum Musical Institute, Imphal at the auditorium of Government Music College, Palace Compound today.
Organised under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the programme was attended by K Radhakumar, Commissioner, PWD and IPR, M Dhananjoy, president, Sargam, L Debendrajit, Vice-Principal, Government Music College and S Tijendra, president, AMMIK as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme, K Radhakumar said, "Late Ustad Bismillah Khan was a great musician who was also credited for popularising Shenai.
When anyone mentions 'Shenai', the first thing that comes to our mind is Ustad.
He was not only a great Shenai player but played a very crucial role in popularising the instrument" .
As part of the programme, classical music performances were presented by Gurukulla Cultural Academy, H Guno Singh, S Ramkumar, K Shanta, M Cherish Singh and L Devendrajit Singh.
