NaMo, Jaitley meet Manipuri women

New Delhi, February 06 2014:
BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, on Wednesday, met the Manipuri women who had been assaulted in Kotla Mubarakpur, at Gujarat Bhawan.
A delegation of around 30 people from the northeast met Modi and discussed their problems, suggesting ways to make the city safer.
BJP leader Arun Jaitley was also present.
The victims, Awon (name changed) and Thanthan (name changed), told Modi how they faced harassment every day and stressed on the importance of cops acting swiftly in such cases.
Sorinthan Haorei, secretary, Tangkhul Students Union, Delhi, who was translating on their behalf said, "He patiently heard us and asked us about the case.
Arun Jaitley was also present.
They both heard us and promised that they will look into the matter.
Modi also talked about development in the northeast" .
The individuals narrated their horrific experiences and demanded a strong anti-racial discrimination bill to be passed and the matter taken up seriously.
Modi assured them that a Bill is underway and something will be done.
After meeting them for half-an-hour, both Jaitley and Modi left.
While Rahul promised them justice in the case, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had promised that the history of the northeast will be made a part of school curriculum.
To this, people from the northeast said that they only wanted justice in both Nido Tania and Manipuri women assault cases and a proper anti-racial discrimination Act will protect them.
