He further added that the initiative of both the villages and Suresh was to construct an eco-park in the barren area to save the historic village called 'Karpur Sungba village'.
Initially the name of the village was known as Taihu Lanjgang and the name was changed to Karpur Sungba village some 300 years back by the kings of Manipur as the villagers produced karupur (edible camphor).
The intention of the villagers was to save the deforested hillocks and to create job opportunities to the locals through the park as well as save the environment of the area, he asserted.
Further, Nambilung said that the works of the villagers were misinterpreted while saying that it was very unfortunate.
Meanwhile, chief of Ngarangpham village, Thomas stated that both the villages respect and regard the suggestions made by officials of Forest Department to get official clearance from concerned authorities and the villagers have been working on it.
He further stated that the noble initiative of the villagers toward the State should not be politicized by any person or group.
