Imphal, February 03 2018:
Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) joint secretary Amin Shah has warned of intensifying its ongoing agitations in protest against the Government's inaction towards their demands including conduct of an enquiry on every scheme implemented for minorities under MOBC Department from 2010 to 2017.Speaking to media persons during a sit-in-protest organised at Mayang Imphal Bengoon yesterday, Amin Shah said that the organisation had served an ultimatum to the authorities concerned, including the Chief Minister demanding to produce a white paper on all the schemes for minorities of the State implemented from 2010 to 2017.He said that the ultimatum also demanded authorities concerned to make the MOBC Department fully functional for the welfare of the minorities.
He mentioned that the Government is not complying with MMWO's demands till date although the deadline served by MMWO ended in January.
Sit-in-protests have been organised in different parts of the State for the last many days to press the demands.
Stating that the Government's initiative of opening an anti-corruption cell has no purpose if the Government does not pay any heed to the legitimate demands, Amin Shah threatened to intensify the ongoing agitations in pursuit of the demands.
