Freeze bank accounts: State Govt

The State Government has directed all banks operating in the State to freeze all banks accounts of Yambem Biren s/o late Y Thambalngou of Terakhong-shangbi Leimaram Leirak, Bishnupur district and Narengbam Samarjit s/o N Jugindro of Tera Loukrak-pam Leikai, Imphal West district with immediate effect.
Special Secretary (Home) Kh Raghumani Singh issued an order to this effect on November 1 .
It has been already reported in media that a Manipur Government in exile named Manipur State Council has been formed in London with Yambem Biren and Narengbam Samarjit as S/S Chief Minister and S/S External Affairs and Defence Minister respectively.
There is reasonable grounds that the money held in the individual bank accounts operated by Yam- bem Biren and Narengbam Samarjit is intended for use in unlawful purpose and waging war against the lawfully and democratically established country of India and Government of Manipur.
The State Government is of the opinion that the individual bank accounts oper- ated by Yambem Biren and Narengbam Samarjit may be frozen so that the money cannot be utilised by them for unlawful purposes, mentioned the order.
Meanwhile, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, has issued a search warrant for 16 offices and sub-offices of the SALAI Group of companies.
The search warrant was issued today following a prayer by Lamphel police station.
The application was filed by Sub Inspector Angamapa Hmangte against the expelled Chairman of SALAI, Narengbam Samarjit for issuing search warrants against SALAI Agro Product Pvt Ltd, SALAI Construction Pvt Ltd, SALAI Energy Solutions, SALAI Mart Pvt Ltd, SALAI InfoTech Pvt Ltd, SALAI Asia Pacific Exim Pvt Ltd, SALAI Agri Consortium Pvt Ltd, SALAI Tours and Travels, SALAI Pan Asia International Ltd, SMART Society, SMART Medicos, SALAI Financial Service, SALAI Land Development and Agricultural and Allied Activities Cooperative Credit Society, SALAI Recording Centre, SALAI Private Bank (Tera Sapam Leirak) and SALAI Private Bank (Uripok Takhellambam Leikai) .
The Court also instructed the police to submit all reports to the Court by November 11 .
