Kisan Sammelan 2021 was held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen today organised by Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) Manipur Prant.
The event was graced by All India National Secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), Mohini Mohan Mishra as the chief guest and president of BKS Manipur Prant, N Indhuboson as the president.
Director of Instruction and Research, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Dr S Basanta and former Vice Chancellor of CAU, Dr M Premjit also attended as the Guest of Honour.
Speaking as the chief guest Mohini Mohan Mishra said that a new executive committee of farmers for the term 2021-2024 have been appointed comprising of 10,000 members representing 150 villages.
The committee will be addressing the issue of the farmers from time to time and will be helping the farmers, he added.
Talking about the issues of the farmers in Manipur, he said that Bharatiya Kisan Sangh will work earnestly for the welfare of the farmers in addressing the problems such as lack of fertilizers, inadequate irrigation facilities, shortage of seeds of seasonal crops etc.
He continued that the farmers have been worst hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, planning are underway to help in alleviating the hardships of the farmers.
