4 girl students hurt in hit and run case

Kangpokpi, August 29 2017:
In an alleged hit and run case along AH-1 yesterday evening in between Karaopokpi and Heikakpokpi, four girl students riding bicycles were grievously wounded when a blue coloured Maruti Van (EECO) hit them between 6 pm and 6.30 pm .
The incident happened when the Maruti Van coming in full speed rammed the four students of Pallel High School in Tengnoupal district while they were riding bicycles along the roadside to visit their school friend at Heikakpokpi .
The students have been identified as Hoineichong (16) and Hatneikim (15) of Chatong village, Nengneihoi Mate (14) and Tinneikim (13) of Chehlep village .
Two of injured girls were discharged after treatment while the other two who sustained severe injuries on their heads and legs have been admitted at Shija Hospital in critical condition and are presently undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) .
It has been reported that the Maruti Van fled the scene after hitting the girls while an FIR has been reportedly lodged at Kakching Police Station in connection with the case .
The driver of the vehicle is still absconding .
Kuki Students' Organization, Tengoupal district has strongly condemned the incident and rolled up its sleeves to leave no stone unturned in delivering justice to the girl students .
Daniel Mate, president, KSO Tengnoupal said that the driver responsible should surrender immediately to the police within a period of two days so as to settle the case amicably and at the same time the police should make all efforts to apprehend the driver within the stipulated time .
He also warned that if the driver is not apprehended or surrender within the stipulated time, it [KSO] will be constrained to take its own course of action.
