CBI team raids RIMS, again

CBI Anti Corruption Bureau, Imphal branch conducted a raid at RIMS store rooms today.
A reliable source said that the raid, carried out by a team led by a DSP, began at around 10 am and continued till late night.
It is suspected that the Central investigating agency searched the medical institute following complaints of non-distribution of Government supplied materials and medicines to the patients, the source said.
It further said that patient parties are compelled to buy most of the materials and medicines on their own as these are not provided by the hospital authority.
The CBI team thoroughly checked the store room located at the eastern part of the hospital complex in the presence of the hospital staff.
The source further said that the store keeper was interrogated for many hours during the raid.
Documents related to purchasing and acquiring materials and medicines were also collected by the CBI team from the administrative block of the medical institute.
Later, the team searched another store room located near Gynae Ward.
They checked whether the materials and medicines found in the store room matched with the hospital records.
The CBI team who were accompanied by Manipur Rifles personnel seized some materials after the raid, the source added.
It may be mentioned that it is the second CBI raid conducted in the hospital in two years.
On September 12, 2014 office and quarter of former RIMS Director Dr Sinam Sekharjit was raided regarding financial irregularities in the purchase of dental chairs for RIMS Dental College.
On the same day, another CBI team raided RIMS Dental College and Hospital Principal Prof Rajiv Ratan Singh's quarter and office.
They also sealed the office of the Director and Chief Accountants Officer.
A case of financial irregularities is still pending against former Director Dr Sinam Sekharjit, Dental College Principal Dr Rajiv Ratan Singh, Chief Accountants Officer cum Advisor Elangbam Devendro, former Medical Superintendent Haobam Shanti and M/s Mukherjee Enterprises proprietor Subendra Mukherjee.
Another case regarding Regional Cancer Project is pending against former Director Dr Lallukham Fimate Phimate, Radiotherapy former HOD Dr Thoudam Tomcha, former Director Sinam Sekharjit, Hussain of Saudi Arabia, Kirloskar Tech Private Ltd Managing Director Sh Amandeep and M/s MDS Nordian (Canada) CEO Scott Macintosh and presently through Best Theratronics of Canada and its Director Cricsiaun through its Indian agent M/s Kirloskar Tech Private Ltd, New Delhi.
