LDA Chairman takes Atal Tinkering Lab to Thanga

M Asnikumar Singh, Chairman, Loktak Development Authority(LDA) and State spokesperson BJP Manipur Pradesh inaugurated an 'Atal Tinkering Laboratory' at Thanga Island Modern English School (TIMES), Salam Leikai, Thanga today.
Speaking at the programme, he said, "Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji's legacy lives on and continues to inspire each and everyone of us.
On January 1, 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), with the objective to develop new programmes and policies for fostering innovation in different sectors of the economy, provide platforms and collaboration opportunities for different stakeholders, and create an umbrella structure to oversee the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem of the country.
As part of AIM's mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched Atal Tinkering Laboratories all across the country which include setting up10000 laboratories in 20000 schools, covering more than 11 lakh students across the country till now.
The objective is to foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination in young minds; and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing etc, he added.
This innovative laboratory will provide a much needed platform to hundreds of students of Thanga, most of whom hail from underprivileged fishing communities.
Asnikumar appealed the parents of the students not to make any compromise in their children's education (despite their daily hardships) as education is the pillar of a brighter future for the Nation.
He also appealed to the students of the school to make full use of the newly established facility which will impart training in various innovative fields like artificial intelligence, drone technology, remote controlled machinery etc and not to hesitate from sharing new ideas that come to mind and in the long run, contribute to the Nation building process.
"Under the leadership and vision of the 'People's CM' N Biren Singh and Education Minister Th Basanta Singh the educational landscape of Manipur is taking huge leaps," he added.
"The focus on providing holistic, comprehensive knowledge to students with focus on real world applications will surely be a success story in the coming years.
Moreover, the establishment of an Atal Tinkering Lab in a place like Thanga which has been plagued by various obstacles is something which couldn't have been imagined.
This is testament to the success of our Prime Minister's vision of an inclusive nationwide development in all parameters," he said.
He also appealed to the students of the school to take an active and keen interest in knowing the importance and role of Loktak Lake and its associates.
