Imphal, December 25 2021:
Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) has appealed to the State Government to look into the anomalies in the functioning of governing bodies of various colleges across the State and to take appropriate actions accordingly.
AIMS in a press release alleged that the governing bodies and head of institutions of many aided colleges which are under Higher Education Department of the State are collecting huge amounts of money from their respective teaching and non teaching staff on the pretext of the conversion of these colleges.
Amid such wrong tactics, the former teachers who have been teaching in these colleges for many years are not included in the final list of teachers submitted to the Government since they have not contributed the said amount, continued the statement.
Stating that the private and aided colleges in the State contribute majorly in the Higher Education sector the student body has maintained that it is unfortunate that the governing bodies which are managing the colleges have made these colleges a place for money making business.
The student body alleged that the governing bodies have been bribing the Government from time to time to get the status of aided colleges and subsequently recruitment of teachers is done through unfair means.
Elaborating on various anomalies existing in such colleges, AIMS stated that a team of AIMS went to the colleges and inquired about the recruitment of teachers, it was found that no proper DPC process was followed since they have no record of the time of conducting the DPC and the presence of Higher Education Department nominees.
The newly recruited teachers were also not included in the list submitted to UGC as well, added the statement.
In view of such a concerning scenario, AIMS will submit a memorandum to the Government informing about the aforementioned irregularities and AIMS will bring forth the colleges which are involved in such malpractices in the public domain.
