Kangpokpi, October 25 2018:
Ahead of the proposed Cabinet meeting tomorrow in connection with the issue of Church eviction in Imphal, Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship (KTCF) has urged the State Cabinet to abort and reject the eviction plan on humanitarian ground.
The appeal of Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship came in a meeting held at Kangpokpi DHQs this afternoon following the mass rally under the aegis of All Manipur Christian Organization yesterday.
Speaking to media persons, Rev K Hangshing, chairman, Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship said that the Government is well aware of the crucial and huge role of the Churches in spreading the message of living together in peace and harmony among the different communities in the State.
He also said that the State Government is also aware of the Supreme Court's instruction to regularize and relocate religious places constructed in public places in the State capital.
The Government had acted accordingly but not a single Church was included in the regularization, he said.
He continued that the Christian community in Kangpokpi is shocked at the 'unacceptable' eviction notice served on two Churches in Imphal.
Resolving to push for revocation of the eviction orders, the meeting also collectively decided to endorse All Manipur Christian Organization in its movement for regularization of all the Churches constructed in public places within the State capital.
Christian community in the hills will not remain silent if its sanctity and selfless service is discriminated, said KTC chairman.
