Human chain protest staged

A large number of students formed a human chain and carried out a protest at Canchipur today, demanding the Government to solve Babysana's death case immediately.
A large number of students from Imphal Public Higher Secondary School, Temple of Learning, Sofia High School, Paradise Academy, Dineshori Higher Secondary School and ISHOR, participated in the protest which was organised under the aegis of Apunba Ireipaki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS).
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest, AIMS vice president S Premchand said that until and unless the State Government delivers justice, AIMS will continue to launch various forms of agitation.
On the other hand, womenfolk of Kyamgei Mayai Leikai, Kyamgei Khoirom Leikai and Kyamgei Mamang Leikai, staged a sit in protest at Kyamgei Khagemba Keithel demanding justice for Babysana.
The protesters also resolved to offer full support to any steps taken up by the JAC regarding the issue.
Volunteers of Ideal Women Welfare Meira Paibi (IWWMP) and denizens of Narenkonjin, also staged a sit in protest at a waiting shed situated at Narenkonjin Mamang Leikai, Imphal West, this evening.
Apart from raising several slogans, the protesters also observed a 2 minute silence for the departed soul, said a statement released by Th Nungshi Devi, secretary of IWWMP.
Similarly, students of Divine Light School, Khumbong Bazar denounced the mysterious death of Babysana and staged a sit in protest at their school premises, today.
Placards reading "We condemn crime against girls", "We demand justice for Babysana's death" and "Punish the culprits" were used by the students during the protest.
It may be mentioned that Ningthoujam Babysana (14) of Thangmeiband Maisnam Leikai, was found hung to death under mysterious circumstance inside the hostel of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur, in the morning of July 18.She was a class VII student of the school.
