Imphal, March 25 2021:
BJP State executive member Jotin Waikhom has questioned MLA Joykisan's intention for delimitation in Thangmeiband Assembly segment while MLAs of no other Assembly segment located within Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) are talking about delimitation.
Speaking to media persons at his Thangmeiband residence today, Jotin Waikhom said that MLA Kh Joykisan wrote a letter to the Chief Minister on October 30 last year seeking re-adjustment/modification of some wards.
Subsequent upon the MLA's letter, MAHUD Department issued a notification of delimitation but the Corporators of IMC Ward Nos 1, 2, 3 and 25 have already raised strong objection, Jotin said.
Joykisan's demand for re-adjustment of some wards on the pretext of variance in the number of voters is not in the interest of the people of Thangmeiband AC but is driven by his own selfish interest, Jotin Waikhom said.
There is no wrong if the delimitation should be done in all the Assembly segments covered by IMC but any form of delimitation restricted within Thangmeiband AC is unacceptable, said the BJP executive member.
Claiming that the notification issued by MAHUD Department is not final, Jotin said that people may raise objections till tomorrow.
