Dikho urges tribal youth

Pointing out that the tribal people in the State are lagging far behind other communities, PHED Minister L Dikho has urged the youth from the hills to avail proper education so as to invigorate tribal society.
He also asked the students community to give up the culture of calling bandhs and blockades while pursuing their demands.
Speaking as the chief guest in the "Vedaoyu Niih 2018" which was organized by Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me Imphal (PNTMI) under the theme "Hope of a better age" at Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Imphal today, Dikho said that education is the source of empowering a society and bringing development in the society.
He went on to appeal all the villagers, particularly in remote areas, to unite and collectively strive under a common objective of developing the backward tribal society instead of creating disunity among themselves in the pursuit of leadership.
The Minister maintained that situations in the hill districts have changed a lot from the past after the new Government came to power and added that the Government has been giving special attention to the promotion of organic farming and boosting tourism sector in the hills and the State as a whole.
Reminding that Cherry Blossom Festival has been clubbed with Sangai Festival, he said that the scope of the festival has been magnified and added that the people living around the venue can now reap the benefits of providing home stay facilities to the visitors in their respective houses.
He then stressed on the importance of warm hospitality and good manners among the locals to attract tourists.
The Minister also conveyed that the women market constructed at Senapati town is planned for inauguration on November 5 this year.
The function was also attended by Thilu Lanamai, Inspector (Enforcement Unit), Central GST, Ministry of Finance, Gol and L Soloni Pao, retired MCS officer and president, Poumai Naga Unit as the president and guest of honour respectively.
