Protests continue with rally, sit-in, road block

Imphal,July 23 2015: Sit-ins, mass rally and road blocks continued as part of the ILPS demand movement in the State.

A large number of meira paibis from Lairikyengbam Leikai, Laipham Khunou, Khongsai Veng, Nagaram, Namdunlong, women vendors of Ching Tam Ima Keithel Khuman Lampak, Chingtam Apunba Khuman Lampak Ima Keithel and womenfolk from Chingmeirong held a procession along the Stadium road.

The women folks marched from Lamlong bridge and took a U-turn from Khongnang Ani Karak and again marched till Lamlong Keithel.

They raised slogans demanding immediate implementation of Inner Line Permit system, punishment of the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood and also condemned the Ibobi led State Government.

Meanwhile, the Laipham Khunou Apunba Meira Paibi, Khongsai Veng Meira Paibi and Lairikyengbam Apunba Meira Paibi held a sit-in-protest along the Stadium Road in support of the demand for implementation of ILPS.

Hatta Makha Leikai Social and Youth Development Organisation and Hatta Makha Leikai Women Welfare Association staged a demonstration at Hatta demanding immediate implementation of ILPS.

At Nambol bazar, vegetable vendors also staged a demonstration in support of the ILP movement.

On the other hand, road block along the Stadium road continued, crippling all forms of transportation.

The road was blocked at different intervals by placing trees and other materials across the road.

Leimakon, Huikap Ningthou Women's Welfare Association in collaboration with local clubs staged a sit-in at Huikap today demanding ILPS in Manipur.

Staff and members of North Eastern Economical Development Society (NEEDS) staged a sit-in today at their Imphal branch office premises located at Pishum Ningom Leirak demanding implementation of ILPS.

Punshi Marup Welfare Society has urged the Govt to expedite enforcement of ILPS in Manipur.

Strongly condemning the killing of Sapam Robinhood and injuring many others during the ILPS demand movement, the society has also demanded fitting punishment of the personnel involved in the killing of Robinhood.

Kege Moirang Apunba Lup (KEMAL) will organise a consultancy programme in connection with ILPS demand at Moirang Patlou Mandap at 2 pm on July 25 .
