MSLSA to create mass awareness on Govt schemes

Acting Chief Justice of Manipur High Court N Kotiswar who is also the Executing Chairman of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) has conveyed that a mega legal awareness camp will be held once in a month from next month with an aim to create awareness among the people about the various welfare schemes of the Government being implemented in the State.
Addressing a press conference held today at the Conference Hall of Manipur High Court, Kotiswar said that the proposed legal awareness camp will give awareness on aspects like who should be the deserving beneficiaries of the welfare schemes, how to get the benefits from the schemes and whom to approach and complain by the beneficiaries when the benefits get denied.
Terming the mega legal awareness camp itself as a welfare scheme, Kotiswar said that the initiative is to be taken up by MSLSA in consultation with National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
The objectives of the mega legal awareness camp include generating awareness on welfare, laws, schemes, strengthening community access, identifying and connecting people to the welfare schemes and understanding legal needs and problems, he added.
He elaborated that the first mega legal awareness camp will be held on January 3 at Manipur Trade Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong, Imphal West.
MSLSA chose some core themes for the mega legal awareness camp.
The themes include labour, HIV/AIDS, transgender, RTE etc.
Special attention will be given to the welfare programmes related with these people, he said.
Apart from providing opportunities to conduct test for HIV/AIDS at the venues, forms for availing various schemes will be also made available.
This will help the beneficiaries understand the procedures needed for seeking benefits of the schemes.
Appealing to the public to participate in the camp, Kotiswar announced that transportation charges for those who come from far places will be borne by MSLSA.
He also asked them to bring identity documents for attending the camp.
Justice Kh Nobin Singh, Legislator General A Guneshwor Sharma and Member Secretary RK Memcha were also present at the press conference.
