A protest demonstration was staged today at Ikou Keithel against the abduction of Sanasam Tomba alias Kala and Amom Doren from Tuichamphai village of Sadar Hills area, Senapati district with an appeal for their immediate release.
The protest demonstration was jointly organised by Kuki Inpi, Saikul and Kuki Students' Organisation and it was participated by people from Saikul sub-division and surrounding areas of Ikou.
Tomba and Doren engaged in a culvert construction work were abducted by some armed persons from their work site at around 8.30 pm of December 10. Kuki Inpi, Saikul president Thangkam Lupheng decried that the Government is still unable to find a clue to the abduction of Tomba alias Kala (44) s/o Sekhar of Wangoo Heinouyam Leikai and Doren of Wangoo Sandangkhong Awang Leikai.
This is a clear indication that the Home Department is defunct, he added.
The abduction is against humanity and the particular armed group should clarify as to why the workers were abducted.
Urging the contractor to work towards securing release of the two workers, Thangkam also conveyed solidarity to the two families.
He said that more intense forms of agitation would be launched if the two workers are not released at the earliest.
