The 50 bedded District Hospital located near District Council-Katomei will witness infrastructural changes in the coming months, Health Director Dr O Ibomcha Singh said in his recent visit to the hospital.
The Health Director had also assured to construct a well-equipped Trauma Centre, Paediatric Centre, Blood Bank, staff quarter and provide the needed specialists in different departments of the hospital.
At Mao Community Health Centre (CHC) the operation theatre is nearing completion.
When completed, it will provide surgical facilities and low cost health services to many.
Constructed by MDS and sponsored by NEC, the 26 crore plus mega project has recently been equipped with a 10 KV solar power panels developed under District Innovative funds.
Thanks to the efforts of former DC Jacintha Lazarus, the approach road to the hospital has been repaired and solar lamps have been installed in the campus.
According to Dr Ibomcha, the State Government is investing all efforts to make sure Primary Health Sub-Centres (PHSC) enjoy facilities of Primary Health Centre (PHC) to facilitate proper medical care in the remote areas.
The State Government is mulling upgradation of 20 more PHSC to PHC which will have more staff and service including additional beds, vaccination facilities, wards, labour room and others.
In Senapati, four PHSC will be selected for upgradation to PHC status, this correspondent reports.
The trauma centre for Senapati District hospital will be constructed with a budget of 2.71 crores.
The centre will have a dedicated operation theatre, blood bank and 80 lakhs worth equipment and blood donation beds and machines.
Dr Ibomcha during his visit also assured that the shortage of nurses will be sorted out soon as recruitment process.
He also promised to give importance to the posting of specialist doctors in the Hospital and sanction a sum of Rs one crore for proper water supply system.
