Women protest military ops at Natheljang camp

Condemnations and protests over the alleged military operation at KNF designated camp at Natheljang in Kangpokpi district continue to pour in.
Various civil organisations have also demanded the release of 26 KNF cadres and withdrawal of charges against the KNF leaders .
Hundreds of Kuki women mainly dominated by the Thadou women held a Toumun Kiphin (sit-in-protest) at Gamgiphai yesterday against the alleged military operation at UPF/KNF designated camp, Natheljang by 38 Assam Rifles under Senapati Brigade and State police on June 15 .
The women protesters condemned the arrest of 26 KNF cadres who are under SoO pact and part of the tripartite political talks under the UPF umbrella with the Centre and State Governments and demanded the withdrawal of legal charges upon KNF leaders .
The Kuki womenfolk organized the Toumun Kiphin near the roadside of National Highway 2 at Gamgiphai from 10 am till 12 noon .
The protesting Kuki women held placards reading, "Release 26 innocent cadres immediately without condition", "Withdraw FIR against KNF leaders, they are our leaders as well", "No release, No Peace", "We believe in the tripartite political talks", "UPF and KNO are not jihaddis, this land is not Jammu and Kashmir", "Indian armed forces under Senapati Brigade violated the trust and confident building between the Indian Government and SoO Kuki armed groups", "Renew the trust between the Governments and the Kuki people", "Avoid any civil unrest that is likely to follow", "SoO is for both securities and Kuki UGs", "Treat with respect not with suspect", etc .
Leaders of Kuki Inpi, Kangpokpi district, Thadou Women Association, KSO Sadar Hills and TSA Sadar Hills addressed the womenfolk during the protest at Gamgiphai .
The Kuki Inpi leader exhorted the protesting womenfolk while underlining the alleged mischievous act of the security forces in launching such deceitful military operation inside the designated camp of Kuki SoO armed group while terming the incident as an 'insult' to the whole Kuki community .
The agitating womenfolk also censured the silence of the Government over the incident till now and demanded the immediate intervention in renewing the trust and confident with the Kuki communities .
A Thadou woman protester said that the silence of the State Govt over the matter is more unfortunate than the arrest incident .
She warned that Kuki women would be compelled to take drastic steps if the Govt continues to maintain its silence over the matter.
