Hungpung village observes

Headman of Hungpung village Wungayung Peter, during the repentance and reconciliation programme of the village at Ilongshim community hall, Awungtang Hungpung appealed to the gathering to forgive the past misdeeds and build a peaceful bond among the people, reports Mungchan Zimik.
In the past, Hungpung village used to dominate smaller Tangkhul villages and impose taxes and ill-treat other villagers.
In order to strengthen the bond among the villagers and to do away such past practices, Hungpung village has invited all the Tangkhul villages to programme.
Headman Wungayung Peter, on behalf of the Hungpung villagers, delivered a speech.
He said that the past was bitter and miserable.
"The village had committed unforgivable offences to many Tangkhul villages.
I, on behalf of Hungpung, proclaimed repentance and forgiveness of all the crimes committed in the past by our forefathers.
Let us reconcile, look forward and build a strong bond of love, peace and unity," the headman said.
Hungpung village presented headgear to all the village headmen and reconciliation feast was also hosted for all the delegates.
Repentance and reconciliation monument was also erected at the premises of Ilongshim, Hungpung village.
The programme was attended by more than 70 headmen, TNL president and all Tangkhul zonal chairmen, Pastors and Catechists.
