Life Watch to provide free legal services

With the launch of a website, Life Watch Manipur is set to provide free legal services to the people of the State.
The non governmental body, which deals with human right issues, launched the website during the observance of the 30th International Day of Peace at its Uripok head office today.
Life Watch Manipur Chief Administrator Angomcha Araba while speaking at the function said, the website would benefit the people of the State who do not afford to consult lawyers.
He added that the day was being observed in order to bring harmony and tranquillity in the State.
Araba also called on various organisations of the State not to call bandh/general strike on days like, Anti Terrorism Day, International Women's Day, World Health Day, Red Cross Day, International Friendship Day, World Indigenous Day and United Nations Day etc.
Speaking on the relevance of observance, Life Watch Manipur Deputy Chief Administrator Laishram Indrakumar said, International Peace Day observance was started in 1891 according to the resolution 36/67 of the UN General Assembly.
Later in 2001, he added, September 21 was fixed with the resolution 55/282 .
The day is also observed at UN Headquarters every year with the Secretary General rings peace bell, he added.
