409 SHGs formed under MSRLM

Imphal, December 20 2016:
Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MS RLM), an autonomous society of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department, Government of Manipur, is the designated State Nodal Agency for implementation of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM)/Aajeevika, a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
To boost economic empowerment of rural population, intensive strategy implementation of Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission under Ministry of Rural Development is in process in 10 Gram Panchayats.
MSRLM is also implemented in 84 villages with 19 villages in Imphal East in Phase -1, 11 villages in Imphal East in Phase -2, 29 villages in Machi and 25 villages in Tengnoupal.
399 new Self Help Groups are promoted with 116 SHGs in Imphal East in Phase -1, 101 SHGs in Imphal East in Phase -2 and Machi and 81 SHGs in Tengnoupal.
Till September 2016, 409 SHGs have been formed in the State.
299 SHGs are providing book-keeping training and 86 SHGs are providing membership training.
A total of 4,693 households are mobilized into all the SHGs.
267 SHGs have opened saving bank account including 90 SHGs in Imphal East Phase -1, 87 SHGs in Imphal East Phase -2, 30 SHGs in Machi and 60 SHGs in Tengnoupal.
3,634 bank accounts were opened with 1021 in Imphal East Phase -1, 1012 in Imphal East Phase -2, 889 in Machi and 713 in Tengnoupal respectively.
MSRLM has also conducted various National Rural Livelihoods Mission awareness programmes and workshops for the stakeholders in different parts of the State.
A 12-day regional SARAS fair was also held at DM(Arts) Imphal in 2014 .
22 active women and 76 Panchayati Raj Institutions members participated in a tour to OMPLIS, Andra Pradesh following an exposure visit led by Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj in August, 2016 .
Construction of offices of State Mission Management Unit (SMMU) and Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) was completed and 31 staff members have been working since September, 2015.MSRLM will continue to form SHG as part of its action plan till March, 2017 .
MSRLM will also sign MoUs with leading banks.
