Imphal, November 20 2016:
Manipur Chief Secretary O Nabakishore said the State will witness participants from foreign countries like Thailand, Sri Lanka, UAE, Bangladesh and Chin States in Myanmar in the Sangai Festival.
Tickets with barcodes with Rs 25 for adults, Rs 15 for students and free entry for children below 5 years will be used in order to make the festival more organised.
The Commerce Minister of Japan will also take part in the inaugural celebration and Chief Minister of Chin State and 3 Ministers will travel by road to Manipur in order to participate in the festival.
The Chief Secretary stated that participants from Thailand will take part kick volleyball and kick boxing against Manipur during the festival.
The main event of the festival is the 5th International Tourism Mart which will be held at City Convention Centre between November 23 and November 25 .
The event is to highlight the tourism potential of the North East region by bringing together the tourism fraternity of the North East States and West Bengal.
More than 50 international delegates, 80 tour operators along with the delegates from the North East States and West Bengal will participate in the mart apart from the officials of the Ministry of Tourism and India Tourism Development Cooperation Ltd.
Apart from showcasing the handloom products, art and culture programmes, film shows with special emphasis on Russian movies every night at MFDC, Palace Compound, 2 car rallies, 2 business summits will also be organised.
There will boat race at Kangla moat on November 23.Around 300 stalls are being set up.
Transport facilities till the festival venue will also be provided to the people, he added.
