'Abolish the practice of gifting extravagant things on Ningol Chakkouba eve'

Stating that the bonding between the different communities of the State since time immemorial is inseparable, advisor of Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) N Rajendro on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba festival has called upon the people belonging to the different communities to promote unity and peace in the State .
Taking in the Ching-Tam Ningol Chakkouba programme organised by Indigenous Minorities Socio-Cultural Organisation Manipur (IMSCOM) at its New Checkon office today, Rajendro asserted that the history and origin of the different communities of the State are identical .

He said that one should not forget the active participation and contributions made by people belonging to the different communities in protecting the territorial integrity of the State from various threats .
He maintained Ningol Chakkouba, the biggest festival of the State is an occasion to promote belongingness amongst the different communities .
He also exhorted the younger generation to get familiarised with the history and origin of the different communities of the State and the cordial relationship shared by them .
Rajendro urged the people to do away with the practice of gifting expensive things on the eve of Ningol Chakkouba festival as this will create negative implications on poor families .
Highlighting the importance of Mera Hou Chongba festival of the State, he announced that ICHAM will provide free accommodation to the hill people who come to take part in the festival from next year .
Married women from different communities took part in the Ningol Chakkouba programme wherein a grand feast was organised.
IMSCOM presented gifts to them and wished them happiness in their life .
Smart Security Service (SSS), Tera Bazar also organised “Ningol Chakkouba and Best Performance Award Distribution of SSS” at its office.
