Cable TV Digitization workshop for NE held

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India will initiate a kind of penalty against unauthorised cable television operators.
This was revealed during a Cable TV Digitization Workshop for nodal officers of North Eastern States today at Hotel Classic Grande in Imphal.
The workshop was meant for nodal officers from North Eastern region and officers from Nagaland and Manipur participated in today's workshop.
Yogendra Pal, Advisor in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting spoke on the Cable Television Network Act and said that if anybody violates the Act, stern action will be taken up.
Meanwhile the workshop dwelt on the Cable TV Digitization operative side.
According to Yogendra Pal, digitization enables efficient utilization of the spectrum bandwidth available on the cable and thereby enhances the capacity to carry channels on cable.
It brings in transparency as the signals of the cable operator are encrypted and can be received only through a set top box after due authorization from the service provider, the official added.
