Imphal, April 20 2019:
Principal Secretary of Trade, Commerce and Industries P Vaiphei embarked on an inspection trip of Industrial Estate at Takyelpat today.
During the trip, the plastic industry, furniture house, steel industry as well as other projects and establishments inside the estate were inspected.
The Principal Secretary lauded the entrepreneurs, who instead of running after Government jobs, decided to pursue their own initiatives and even provide jobs and employment to others in the process.
He also assured to provide every possible aid from the department's side.
Speaking to media persons, one Ranjoy, proprietor of Ranjoy Plastic Industry located inside the estate, said that his industry produces various items like water tanks, glass fibre septic tank, paddled/motorised and traditional boats, plastic doors and other fibre based products.

Explaining that his industry makes around three four types of glass fibre septic tanks, Ranjoy said that the said product is the first of its kind in the North East region and is also one of the best in the international market.
When asked about raw materials, Ranjoy, who is a PG holder from CIPET Plastic Technology, said that he procures raw materials from various areas like Delhi and Kolkata.
Speaking about the black colour water tanks commonly imported from outside the State, he said that such black colour water tanks are mostly made from recycled raw materials and such items are very cheap.
As recycled raw materials are easily available, such tanks are usually very cheap and they have high chances of being adulterated, he added.
Citing the lack of ample knowledge regarding such products, Ranjoy lamented that most people prefer cheapest products available in markets and often compromise on quality.
Further claiming such black colour water tanks can also have health impacts, Ranjoy explained that other water tanks made from virgin raw materials and which are often green, blue and other colours, are many times better than the black coloured ones.
MANIDCO Managing Director SI Sharma and other officials were also present during the inspection trip.
It may be mentioned that apart from the Takyel Industrial Estate, there are also such similar establishments in other parts of the State like the one at Tera Urak of Bishnupur district and Kuraopokpi Industrial Estate at Thoubal.
The Government is also planning to establish such industrial estates at Senapati and Imphal East as well.
