No land to be given for International Border Township : Haolenphai

A one day consultative meeting on Haolenphai, Moreh for International Border Township, adopted various resolutions with the participation of various village chiefs, CSO leaders, student bodies, philanthropic organizations, etc.
The consultative meet was organized today at Kuki Inn, Imphal by Thadou Students' Association, General Headquarters.
James Haokip, Secy Gen, TSA-GHQs presented the keynote address after Thangtinlen Haokip, Secy Gen, Thadou Inpi-Ghqs pronounced the invocatory prayer while Michael Haokip and Joe Lhungdim delivered the status report and development vis-�-vis township at Haolenphai.
The meet unanimously resolved that it will not accept and agree under any circumstances the proposed acquisition of 2000 acres of Haolenphai land for International Border Township by the State Government while also resolving to oppose any land acquisition move by the Government in the name of development.
The meet also resolved that anyone who vend land shall be socially boycotted stating 'our land is not exchangeable with anything in the name of development and added that it (our land) is our identity, culture and tradition' .
TSA-GHQs secretary, James Haokip said that the consultative meeting was organized in consultation with Haolenphai chief Lalkholun Haokip, who reiterated that he is not willing to give away an inch of land.
James Haokip also said that signature of Haolenphai chief to acquire his land had been allegedly obtained under pressure while he was also made to declare "submission of willingness" under threat.
Therefore, Thadou Students' Association will tirelessly put in efforts to protect the land of Haolenphai, James added.
Elder Lalkholien Singson, vice-president, Thadou Inpi-Ghqs invoked the benediction prayer and the meet ended sine-die.
