With the launching of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization across the nation and in the State, Red Cross Society, Imphal West district branch, organised a polio immunization programme for Keishamthong area, under the theme 'Le the victory over polio continue with two drops of life', today.
The pulse polio immunization programme was led by Red Cross Society, Imphal West district secretary Oinam Ratan Singh.
Composite Hospital Langjing, Imphal under the aegis of IGP Manipur and Nagaland sector conducted Pulse Polio Immunization programme at Langjing as well.
The program was organised as a part of universal immunization programme.
Anshuman Yadav, IGP, M&N Sector graced the occasion as the chief guest while DK Tripathi, DIGP, Suresh Sharma , DIGP, HK Kanaujia, DIGP, I Lokendra, DIGP, PK Singh, DIGP and Dr Deepak, CMO (Anesthetist) along with other officers, doctors and staff organized the programme in befitting manner.
Pulse Polio immunization drops were administered to 215 children (0-5 years).
Anshuman Yadav expressed happiness on being a part of the universal immunization programme.
While emphasized the importance of pulse polio immunization program, he stated that the program has set its objective to achieve hundred percent coverage under oral polio vaccine.
It also aims to immunize children through improved social mobilization and maintain high level of awareness among the public, he added.
In another separate event, 109 Bn CRPF under the aegis of IGP Manipur and Nagaland Sector conducted similar programme at Mongsangei today.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with Public Health Sub Centre.
Mongsangei to eliminate Poliomyelitis (Polio) by vaccinating all children under the age of five years.
Vinod Kumar, Commandant 109 Bn stated that the unit will continue to serve the people by carrying such activities.
Commandant Vinod Kumar, Deputy Commandant Vinod Sawant, Deputy Commandant Kiyam Rajiv, Dr Y Meghachandra organized the programme.
Village president present on the occasion praised the concern of the unit for its virtuous affiliation.
On the other hand, 668 children were administered polio drops at ten polio booths, which were set up under Yaingangpokpi PHC today.
MO in charge and staff of the PHC along with ASHAs were present.
